Hello, two years is a long time to dust off this acount, but this entry marks the return of more shit i have to post, especially coming from the corner of my freezing desk at my low-paying job. So here's to more crap, and i hope you'll enjoy reading this.

Before the roof collapsed.

William Napier first built this house in 1854, named it the Tyersall.
It was then up for sale in 1857 by Boustead and Co.
In 1860, it was purchased by Sultan Abu Bakar of Johor, and the house was demolished and reuilt. Named the New Tyersall, it was completed in 1892.
In 1905, a fire broke out, which was reported on Sept 10th at 2.45am. It was reportedly due to faulty electrical wiring.

what happened after that fire is still quite fuzzy though.

In 1942, it was believed to have served as an indian military hospital, which was then bombed by the japanese during the war despite the red cross painted on the roof. It killed about 700 people.
in july 2006, the second floor caught fire and burned for 50 mins and the roof caved in. it was suspected arson.

this is believed to be the napier house, in existence since 1854. not much of its history can be found on the net though. the house had numerous rooms and fully built with materials made in england, had its roof burnt down. could never put a finger down how this happened. now full of unkempt grass and weeds overgrowing onto the driveways, cigarette butts and grafitti, it's sad that such a place of great architecture (in my opinion) could undergo such disrespect, and treated like 'just another abandoned house on the hill', used to scare childish little minds.

the entrance to the house. non of its doors were intact.

the main area. the floors were made of parquet which had become soft upon the test of time. only one of the stairs could be used as one had completely fallen through, shining daylight onto the middle. under the stairs were small storage rooms, with the entrance to a small corridor in the middle. on the opposite side of this picture were i believe sliding doors or windows which, when opened, overlooked the gigantic garden. next to the stairs were corridors which led to other numerous rooms.

to the right of the stairs from the above picture, believed to be the study? covered with wood panels and overlooking the garden, i fell in love with this room.

the lighting in the room resembled plastic candles with little bulbs in them.

an old washbasin in the same room. somehow it was here?

from the study, we entered the corridor which led to what is believed to be a small working area, with shelves on the opposite side, a little wine storage area under a flight of stairs (which also fell in), and another room which was the storage room.

the storage room was simple, and evidence that grand marnier, benedictine, vodka, cointreau and such were drunk in the house were in the form of labels in typewriter fonts that were pasted in an organized manner.

some of the switches at the dark corridor. whoever inhabited this place had real neat handwriting.

there were 2 fridges in another small room, hence derived as the kitchen. however, there wasn't any form of heat source to prove it was, furthermore..

..there was a drip facilitator?

some of the toilets. the one above had windows that overlooked the entrance.

clambering up the stairs and avoiding soft panels and giant holes, greeted a fallen roof. its rooms were occupied with tiles from the roof, a large table, and a car door?

but the view was glorious.

the blackened ceiling from the fire. however, why was it that the areas where the roof had fallen in were not blackened, but the areas where the ceiling was still intact were?

the garage.

would be great if someone would educate me on the history of this place.

call me morbid.
